Carmen C Mejia

Carmen Mejia is an experienced Activities Director and dance and wellness consultant with over 14 years of dedication to the healthcare and nonprofit sectors. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Dance from the City University of New York-Herbert H. Lehman College (1988), she blends her knowledge of mental health and the arts to enhance therapeutic recreation programs. Carmen is nationally certified as an Activity Director in assisted living and has held leadership roles where she manages teams, develops innovative activity programs, and fosters community involvement to improve residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
In addition to her administrative expertise, Carmen owns and operates "Carmen's Cultural Mix," a small business focused on dance, wellness, and choreography. She has created unique classes such as Kata Dance, combining martial arts with dance, and Culture Mix, which integrates ethnic dance styles. Carmen is also a certified Zumba instructor and has worked extensively in community settings across New York, Maryland, and Virginia. Beyond her professional work, she actively volunteers as a choreographer and dance ministry leader, while also enjoying martial arts and meditation. Notably, she earned first place in an aspiring competition at Madison Square Garden, showcasing her passion and talent in the performing arts.
